Multitasking and Time Management

Being a student comes with innumerable responsibilities today. Gone are the days when school simply involved classes, tests and at the most a few competitive sports. Today, schools are a platform for not just classroom learning but also learning outside of it. There are innumerable activities for students and while it does result in an over all development of the kids, we need to stop to think if it is all becoming too much. Today nearly every industry imaginable has a tie-up with schools and offers camps to villages, industrial visits, educational workshops and lots more, but how many of them are actually about helping the student in real?

Many students end up running between cities for various camps and debates and then immediately return to cope with the pressures of schools and exams. Perhaps some have grown more competitive and tougher because of these opportunities but for the average student it is still a matter of great worry and concern having to balance all of these aspects of their life at the same time. When a child has managed to become equally competent in various areas, they will be able to achieve better results in their academic and personal life as well.

When you have to do multiple activities at a time and they all require different efforts and energies you have to work to integrate them as one. In addition being able to manage your time efficiently is also important. The more you can categorize and classify your activities and schedules, the easier it will be to do things. Especially when it comes to doing multiple tasks at once time management and breaking down larger tasks into smaller ones is extremely important. Equally important is the ability to prioritize activities and events to get results faster. When you have some activity in your high priority list, you can dedicate more time and efforts to it accordingly.

Roach Bait

Roach Bait Benefits

1- One applications will last for up to one full year. Other applications only last for a few months or weeks.

2- Less costly because you only need one application.

3- Superior control. Fumigation and powder get everywhere. Bait can be put in one specific place and it will stay there.

4- Reduced exposure to hazardous chemicals. Boric acid bait is low in toxicity and only needs one application.

5- Baits have virtually no odor after application. You won't notice it's there.

6- It is easy to see if bait is left or not. Other applications, like insecticide, you can't see the product so you don't really know what's going on.

7- Bait is more convenient. You don't have to move around food products or empty shelves.

Where To Apply Bait

Food and water sources are the best places for application. Sinks, appliances, toilets, tubs, pantry, cupboards, and drawers are good places to start. The most important place to apply the product is under sinks. A small dab should be put under each sink in the home.

The tools required are simply a spatula or caulk gun. Baits, like paint, need a little stirring before application. Stir until the consistency is similar to off white toothpaste. Then apply to infested areas.

Where To Buy Roach Bait

It is not available in stores. Most stores carry a boric acid powder, fumigants, or traps which are not as effective.

Global Warming Or Not - Three Easy Ways Everyone Can Go Green

It is nearly impossible these days to open the newspaper, turn on the TV, or listen to the radio without seeing a headline or hearing someone commentary on global warming. Clearly, a lot of the evidence we see in the media today makes a strong point to its existence. Polar ice shelves appear to be receding, ocean levels seem to be rising, and deadly hurricanes, typhoons, and tornadoes are constantly in the news. At the same time, there is abundant evidence that we are merely experiencing a natural warming trend. In the last two years there have been multiple regional records set for coldest temperatures on record and amount of snow precipitation.

Here in Mendon, Utah, it is near the end of July and there are still several small snow packs visible atop the gorgeous Wellsville Mountains. In my mind, the jury is still out on the possibility that global temperatures are rising due to human industrialization. However, I do strongly believe we as human-beings have an obligation to act responsibly with the earth's natural resources. And I believe there are many easy ways each of us can do our part.

Recycle. Recycling takes effort. It is without question much easier to just throw whatever we no longer want or need into our garbage can and let the county or city magically make it disappear. Recycling usually involves storing and then hauling the recyclable items to locations that accept whatever it is we wish to recycle. Some are fortunate enough to have recycling programs that are offered at their curbside. In our place of business we have different boxes or bins for paper, cardboard, aluminum, and plastic. Once the pile becomes too large to handle, either I or someone else will bag the items and haul them to our homes or to other collection sites. It does involve effort. Since we are throwing it out anyways, we might as well put it into the hands of other industries that have a need for these materials. We can either do something now or we can wait several hundreds of years for aluminum, glass, and plastic to break-down. Other items that we should consider recycling are printer cartridges, glass, used car oil, and "green" waste.

Conserve electricity. This is a major issue around our home with four boys under the age of eleven running. I believe we all understand that electricity is generated by burning coal, natural gas, or by splitting atoms. More and more electricity is becoming available through renewable resources such as hydro-plants, wind farms, and solar plants. So it goes without saying that the more electricity we use the more of our precious natural resources will be spent in its generation and the more pollutants will be released into our atmosphere. Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL) use less than a fourth of the electricity needed to power a traditional light bulb. Using Energy Star appliances will also reduce our energy consumption. Purchasing a programmable thermostat makes it easy to heat or cool our homes when we truly need it not when we are usually at work, sleeping, or on vacation. Just think of all the electronic gadgets that you own now that were not even available when you were growing up. These are all plugged in 24/7 and sucking electricity. There are many creative ways we can use less and at the same time lower our bills.

Do not litter. Let's face it - litter is ugly. I spent two years serving my church as a missionary in northern Germany. Each week we would strive for at least four hours of community service. I spent six months in Bielefeld and we did not always have abundant opportunities to serve in this particular city so we would spend most of our service hours picking up trash around the park, our apartment complex, or the subway station. I would consider Germany and Europe in general as much cleaner than most of the United States; however, we still gathered tons and tons of trash. It beautified our surroundings and we felt good doing it. If each of us threw all of our own trash in the garbage - there would be no litter. This sounds like common sense, but if each of us would only concentrate on ourselves we would see a huge improvement in the natural beauty of our surroundings.

These points are not new. We have all heard them before, but hopefully they will cause you to pause and reflect what you can change in your own world. I don't know if the polar bear will be extinct in 40 years, or if Miami will be covered in 50 feet of ocean water someday; but I believe there are many things we can do today to respect and live in harmony with this earth we call home.

Selecting Rodeo Awards: Your Options for a Successful Event

People participate in sporting events, such as the rodeo, for the love of the sport. But that doesn't mean that they don't want or deserve recognition for their skills and accomplishments. As the event planner, you have a lot of available options to choose from for your award ceremony.

Belt Buckles

Shiny silver belt buckles are the quintessential rodeo award. Rodeo winners are instantly recognizable by their beautiful silver buckles, heralding their accomplishments. These buckles are beautifully handcrafted by skilled silversmiths, with intricate designs embossed, engraved, or inlaid on each plate buckle. The motif on each buckle can be personalized to the exact image and message that you choose. Popular buckle motifs include animals like horses or eagles, stars, western scenes, and detailed patterns. Buckles made for awards often feature the name of the event, the sport, and the year, so that the recipient can display it like a trophy.

Banners and Ribbons

Another very common form of awards for rodeo events is banners and ribbons. Large woven banners, often with a beautiful thick fringe, are great for commemorating large accomplishments, such as a signature event or a team competition. Teams especially love these because they can be displayed in their clubhouse, meeting room, or stable. Ribbons can range from small simple printed ribbons to large elaborate ones with beautiful rosettes. All of these items can be found in any color, and can be printed with any text you choose.

Saddles and Tack

Not all awards have to be purely decorative. Some professional rodeo events reward their winners with elaborate trophy saddles, elegant tack equipment for the horses, or handcrafted saddle silver. These make excellent awards because they are useful, and can be used every day - reminding the winner every day of his or her accomplishments.

Gear Bags and Shirts

Another useful category of award can be found in gear bags, totes, or items of clothing. Specialized bags for rodeo equipment are always in demand, and can easily be personalized with an embroidered logo or wording. Shirts are a popular memento for all kinds of events. Denim or khaki work shirts are popular with working cowboys, and everybody loves a good t-shirt.

Jewelry

Still useful, but more decorative, are jewelry options. Any winner, especially women, will love to receive a commemorative ring, bracelet, earrings, or necklace pendant. Handcrafted silver jewelry can be customized to suit your event, your winner, and your budget. More useful objects such as keychains, decorative knives, or money clips are also a good option to consider.

Trophies, Plaques, and Certificates

Of course, let's not forget traditional award types. Trophies are available in many sizes, and can easily be customized to suit your needs. People and groups alike both love to display a case of their shining trophies. Plaques, made of glass, acrylic, or wood, can be made for display on a wall or on a flat surface such as a shelf or desk. These are great for people who have an office, such as a team coordinator, coach, or manager. Similar to plaques, an engraved certificate, in a nice frame, is appropriate for any recipient and sure to be appreciated.

Event planning is a stressful process, full of difficult decisions and intricate details. Don't let the awards for your event fall through the cracks - let your trophy shop or silversmith help you make the right selections for a successful rodeo.

How Video Testimonials Can Boost Your Sales

Video is a medium that people love and enjoy using. We are all used to television and watching video and so it is a great way to educate and overcome objections on the Internet. With the wide availability of high speed Internet access, video is becoming more and more popular every day.

If you are creating sales letters and selling products then you will be using testimonials. These are usually text, sometimes with a picture of the person giving the testimonial and often their name and a location such as a state or country.

Whilst these work they are very easy to fake and hard for people to trust as being real. They can look at these and see that people are recommending the product but they are never sure if they are true or not. Many of these have been faked in the past and simple text doesn't encourage trust with most people.

A video testimonial however is a completely different kettle of fish. Video shows a real person who is giving a real testimonial about the product and bizarrely enough, because it is video people are much more likely to trust it.

Anyone can type some text that could be used as a testimonial and equally, it is easy to video any old Joe gushing about how great a product is but for some reason people trust video much more than text.

If you are using sales letters then you really want to push to get video testimonials from people because it will help you a lot with sales. If you think about all the big product launches these days, they all have plenty of video testimonials telling you how great the program is.

Used properly, video testimonials can help to improve your conversion rates and make your sales letter perform much better. If you can get your users to provide testimonials in a video form then it is going to help the performance of your sales letter significantly.

One smart way is to get the video testimony of your seminar attendees or capturing your audiences at your seminar. Then put the entire video on YouTube. This way, not only can you embedded the video testimony to your sales letter with the video hosted entirely by YouTube, you are also getting exposure from visitors to YouTube who have seen your video at there. It's like using just one stone to kill two birds instantly!

Home for a Gnome?

Kitsch is defined by several dictionaries as relating to poor quality or gaudy art objects that appeal to "low-brow" taste. But in the garden, kitsch categorizes folksy or commercial art that's viewed condescendingly by some, and with irony by others. It's this irony (this stuff is so bad it's good) that has made items such as pink flamingos and garden gnomes more widely popular in recent years.

Garden gnomes have long been popular in Europe, especially in the middle European countries of Germany, Austria and Czechoslovakia. In fact, the city of Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic has declared 2004 to be the Year of the Gnome.

Worldwide popularity of these dwarvish creatures was given a boost after the release of the French film Amelie in 2001. The title character in that movie, frustrated by her father's refusal to travel in his retirement, abducts his garden gnome and sends it around the world with a flight attendant friend.

But from where did these garden creatures spring? The word "gnome" comes from the same root word as the verb "to know."

It is thought that gnomes were named by Paracelsus, a 16th century physician and alchemist. Paracelsus authored a theory of the elements that included the belief that gnomes had occult knowledge of the earth.

From that theory sprang folklore tales that established a mythical society for gnomes. People said that gnomes expressed greetings, farewells and goodnights by rubbing noses. They developed stories that the creatures lived to 400 years, with the male gnomes greying very early in life and indulging in pipe-smoking.

Gnomes were divided by folklore into different types, with the house gnome and the garden gnome being the most represented. People believed that gnomes were a good luck charm, a symbol that the forces of nature were on their side. In parts of Europe, statues of garden gnomes have been, and still are, considered status symbols of success.

So much have gnomes captured the popular imagination, that in July 2003 Australia saw "Take your garden gnome to work" day, and recently the BBC urged listeners to hunt out "gnome-infested" gardens in central England. Although tongue-in-cheek, the BBC's disclaimer to take no risks because they "believe (gnomes) are still a potential source of harm" carries on the folklore legends.

In addition, several gnome "liberation" groups profess to free the statues from enslavement in gardens across America and Europe.

According to legend, house and garden gnomes help with chores around the home, like sweeping the floor or planting. This is the reason many statues of gnomes hold hammers, axes or shovels, or are pushing wheelbarrows.

Many contemporary statues depict gnomes sunbathing, swinging and otherwise relaxing. Several modern artists have specialized in creating statues and painting of gnomes, and many people are avid collectors. Others have opted out of the gnome movement, based on the gnomes' legendary association to spirits and the occult.

Will there be a gnome in your garden?

Road Rage

This type of anger is the controlling, selfish type. Things have to go our way and if they do not I will take matters into my own hands and do what I think is necessary to change the situation. It seems at this stage of a person's anger all reason is lost.

You need to try and understand why you are so angry. If you have a grudge against someone the best thing is to speak to them calmly about it and give them a chance to explain themselves without you interrupting. When you are finished listening to their side of the story you can state your case. Tell them why you are hurt and what you would like them to do to make you feel better.

By talking about the reason for your anger you can diffuse it and let it go. As I have said before anger is not wrong it is when it becomes an uncontrollable force within us that destroys our relationships with our family and friends that it becomes wrong.

It might be a good idea to take public transport to work if you find that driving in the traffic jams in the morning upsets you and leaves you in a violent temper. You could start up a conversation with someone close to you or read the newspaper or a novel. This would allow you to arrive relaxed at the office and you will not have to start off the day in a temper. It is so important to strive to remain calm at all times. This is obviously not always possible, but try to put yourself in a frame of mind that you can be happy and calm.

It is good to remember that the roads are owned by everyone and that we are not the only motorist using them. Live and let live. Realise that there are good drivers and the not so good drivers. As long as they are not endangering the lives of their fellow motorists do not take personally the way they are driving. If we get angry at everyone else's mistakes we will never be anything but angry as no one is perfect.

It is so important to control your thinking. This is where all the trouble starts! Our thoughts become our actions so if our thinking is positive so will our actions be. This way of thinking eventually becomes a way of life and you will find that the intense anger will eventually be something of the past.

Free Birth Records Online

What's Needed for a Birth Records Search Online

With all the information available on the Internet today, anybody can find just about anything. This includes free birth records online and they are usually free due to the fact the government considers them public information. This can be extremely useful for people that are looking to find their own records, such as in the case of finding birth parents. And it's not all that difficult.

The first thing you need before you start your search for an online birth certificate is the person's name. In a lot of cases, this will be the name of the person searching. Because the name will have to match the name on the birth record, the full name must be provided, no nicknames. This can make it more difficult if the name is not that of the person searching. If the person was adopted and does not know the full name given at birth, they can contact the adoption agency that handled their case and obtain the name from them.

The next piece of information that is needed is the date of birth. Again, this can make the search difficult if the record being searched for is not that of the person doing the searching. If the birth date is not known, it is still possible to do the search as a number of years can be searched at one time. However, knowing the exact date will narrow the search and make finding the information easier and quicker.

These are the only things you need to find free birth records online. With this new information and the fact that so many people have access to the Internet these days, it has opened a lot of doors for many people. It may still take a little digging but it brings people much closer than before.
